She said no...

Had an email a few minuets ago from the agent who had the manuscript for Mulberry Gin. She has had it since September and I was hoping that was a good sign. But it wasn't.

It was a no. A quite nice no, but still a no. She was my last hope. So now, when it comes back, it'll go in a draw. I'm not going to waste anymore time on it. I'm half way through DV so I'll just carry on with that.

She gave her reasons, and I have to say I can see her point. My writing has come on since I wrote MG so hopefully DV will do better. It certainly couldn't do any worse. But at least I had a go.

Maybe I'll post a chapter a week on here or something, then at least it won't have been a complete waste of time.

Well, she hung onto that for far too long didn't she? lol.
Aw don't worry. You must have learnt so much doing it. Onwards and upwards. Good luck with DV!

You are a total star because you wrote it and you got it out there, which is miles more than most people will ever achieve. You are absolutely right to carry on with your present work and get that out there too. Good luck.

Yeah, I totally see this as a positive thing!! You had your trial run at it which ha given you practice for DV, the best seller you are currently writing. Post it here, like you said, I am sure we would all love to read it! Living the Dream was an amazing and inspiring read so please do post it!! I can't believe she kept it for so long though, how crap is that, that's like planning to dump someone but sleeping with them a hundred times first, ugh. You might also like to consider keeping a sort of Jamie diary, in case you ever want to write an autism book!

Sorry to hear that and totally agree with Helen - you've already got one under your belt which is far more than most people. And you can always go back to it later.
All the best with DV.

I love Woody Allen's
(writer, actor, musician, and comedian)
quotation .....

If you don't fail now and again, it's a sign you're playing it safe.

And here's an adaption from a book I have read from Masha Malka, the One Minute Coach .....

basically you might not always control what happens to you, however you are always in control of how you react to hearing it.

As Swerdnic said, onwards and upwards ... we love your work

Well done you, for taking it on the chin. It is so important to be able to accept these knocks without them affecting everything else you do (in life and/or writing).

Helen and Lane are right; you've already come much further than most people, and thus you have a much greater chance to success than most people. Good Luck with the next one!

Thanks guys. Yes Swerdnic and rainbowmummy, I guess I did let her have it for too long.

I will try and be physophical about it all. It was only my first go after all. And even if I never get published I shall still write, I have to, I love it. And there are so many ideas fizzing about in my head and my notebooks.

Sorry to hear your news, it's so disheartening when that happens. As you said though, you've learnt so much since then, so it's all worthwhile.

I've just 'learned' after near on ten years to scrap my first book and move on to a different genre. Quite a blow when you have put so much love and effort into it but it is just that, a learning process.

I echo other commentors when I say that you have written a book and some of the next one. It takes courage and passion to do that. Keep on going, you'll get there. x

Debs & L-Plate: You are both right of course. I will keep going. Thank you.
